How does a Fast Dominican Divorce work?

Under Dominican Divorce Law No. 142, foreign citizens and Dominican nationals living abroad may voluntarily submit to the jurisdiction of the Dominican courts and obtain a divorce by mutual consent in just one day. This special legal provision eliminates the usual requirements of domicile, residency, separation periods, and waiting times, making it one of the most efficient divorce processes available worldwide. The procedure is straightforward: you travel to the Dominican Republic for a single day to attend your hearing. Afterward, the court typically issues the final divorce documents within 30 to 40 business days**, and each spouse receives an official set for use in their home country. All terms of your marital settlement agreement and property distribution remain strictly confidential, ensuring your privacy throughout the entire process.
